A Vineyard Formation Report

An Imagined 2027

What could a year look like when believers across the Vineyard learn to recognize God's voice, walk in friendship with Him, and steward what He says?

An imagined future. Every figure in this report is illustrative — a picture of what Vineyard USA could one day measure when believers are equipped to hear God, walk in friendship with Him, and steward what He says.

Why this report exists

What if we could measure hearing God?

Vineyard's annual report tells the story of a healthy movement — churches planted, leaders equipped, dollars stewarded. Those numbers matter. But there is a quieter story underneath them: what is actually happening between believers and God.

That story is usually invisible. We can't easily count the moment someone finally recognizes God's voice, records a dream instead of forgetting it, or tests an impression before acting on it. Yet those moments are where formation happens.

This report imagines that story made visible — a picture of what Vineyard could one day measure if believers were equipped with a simple, biblical framework for hearing God and stewarding what He says.

A note on the numbers: every figure below is illustrative. Nothing here has been counted yet. This is a prophetic projection — a picture of what could be — not a record of what has been.

How this would be measured: If this were real, these figures would come from a hypothetical cohort of 1,240 believers across 40 Vineyard churches, each taking a pre- and post-year Formation Assessment, with activity (prayers and dreams recorded, impressions tested) counted in the app itself. We share the model here so the shape of the numbers is honest, even though the numbers are not yet real.

Movement One

Attentiveness

Formation begins with attention. Before anything can be discerned or stewarded, believers have to slow down enough to notice that God may be speaking at all.

3 in 4believers report they now recognize God's voice with more confidence than a year ago
14 minmedian daily time in listening prayer, up from almost none

Self-reported by the 1,240-believer cohort on the pre/post Formation Assessment. “More confidence” is a believer's own account, not a measurement of God's activity.

“I stopped assuming God was silent.”

For years I thought hearing God was for other people. Once I had a rhythm and language for it, I realized He'd been speaking the whole time — I just never slowed down to notice.

Movement Two

Recording What God Says

What isn't written down is usually lost. When believers capture prayers, dreams, and impressions, scattered moments become a record they can return to and test.

“The pattern only showed up because I wrote it down.”

I'd have three or four dreams about the same thing and never connect them. Writing them down changed everything — suddenly I could see what God had been saying over months, not just one night.

38,412prayers recorded and revisited across the cohort
11,905dreams captured before they were forgotten

Activity counted in-app across the 1,240-believer cohort — a tally of what believers chose to record, not a claim about what any of it means.

Movement Three

Discernment, Not Presumption

A dream may get your attention, but Scripture must govern your interpretation. This is where a framework matters most — it keeps hearing God humble, tested, and accountable.

8,730dreams and impressions run through the 6-part discernment filter
6tests every impression is weighed against before it's acted on

The six tests: Scripture, Character, Fruit, Jesus, Counsel, and Time — a filter that turns “God told me” into “I sensed this, and I tested it.”

“It taught me what not to act on.”

The most freeing part wasn't hearing more — it was learning to test what I heard. I've set aside impressions that didn't pass, and I've obeyed the ones that did with real confidence.

The 6-Part Discernment Filter

  • Scripture — does it align with what God has already revealed?
  • Character — does it fit the character of God?
  • Fruit — does it produce the fruit of the Spirit?
  • Jesus — does it lead toward Jesus, not away from Him?
  • Counsel — has it been weighed with trusted, mature believers?
  • Time — does it hold up as you pray and wait?

Movement Four

Answered & Testified

God answers. Our part is to notice, record, and give testimony. These figures count what believers testified to — with God as the actor and the movement simply keeping the record.

“We prayed it, wrote it down, and watched it happen.”

Having it recorded meant we couldn't explain it away later. When the answer came, the whole group remembered exactly what we'd asked for. It built faith we didn't have before.

2,614answered prayers testified to by believers
1,038dreams that led to a concrete act of obedience

Testified by believers in the cohort. This report records testimony; it does not adjudicate it. God answers prayer — we simply count what people say He did.

Movement Five

Formation, Not Just Information

The goal was never more spiritual experiences. It was formed people — believers who are more confident, more obedient, and more at peace because they know how to walk with God.

82%report increased confidence in recognizing God's voice
68%report greater peace and quicker obedience in daily life

Measured by the pre/post Formation Assessment across the 1,240-believer cohort — the same engine that makes the growth above trackable rather than anecdotal.

Illustrative

“I'm not anxious about God's will anymore.”

I used to feel like I was guessing at what God wanted. Now I have a way to listen, test, and respond. The anxiety is gone. I actually trust that He's leading me.

Into the Future

An invitation to imagine it real

We built this report as a picture, not a promise. None of these numbers exist yet. But every one of them could — because the framework behind them is simple, biblical, and teachable.

The Zoé Life exists to equip believers to recognize God's voice, walk in friendship with Him, and steward what He says — disciplined, tested, and never chaotic. What you've just scrolled through is what happens when that equipping meets a movement like Vineyard.

We'd love to explore what a real version of this could look like for your churches — starting small, measuring honestly, and letting the story tell itself.

With deep respect for all God is doing through the Vineyard,
