Recognizing God's Voice
For everyone · Chapter 10
The Five-Minute Daily Practice
Choose a time of day and keep these five steps for one week. Write one sentence each day about what stood out and how you responded.
Discernment grows through repeated attention, not occasional crisis prayer.
The five steps
Five minutes a day
- 1
Read
A short passage of Scripture, slowly enough to notice what stands out.
- 2
Listen
Pause and ask what God may be highlighting, without forcing a mystical moment.
- 3
Record
Write one sentence about what stood out (Habakkuk 2:1–2).
- 4
Test
Does it align with Scripture, God's character, and the fruit of the Spirit?
- 5
Respond
What obedience, prayer, or continued attention does this call for?
Five minutes a day, repeated, forms discernment that crisis prayer never can.
