Pattern Log

Write down what stands out over the next few weeks. At the end of each week, read back through it and notice what keeps returning.

Repetition can function like divine underlining.

Chapter 4

How to use it

Five columns

  • In the Date column, write when the moment occurred.
  • In the What Stood Out column, write the actual event, thought, Scripture, dream, conviction, conversation, or circumstance. Keep this simple and factual.
  • In the Possible Theme column, write a humble phrase, not a forced conclusion. Examples might include forgiveness, waiting, correction, courage, prayer, purity, wisdom, preparation, surrender, healing, or obedience.
  • In the Scripture Connection column, write any passage, biblical story, command, warning, promise, or principle that helps test or frame what stood out.
  • In the Response column, write the next faithful step. This may be pray, repent, wait, forgive, apologize, seek counsel, record more, obey, release, rest, or continue watching.
